Synopsis

Jay, a young man grappling with the complexities of love and loss, is the central character in Chris Thompson’s poignant and intense play “Burn.” Set in various locations including a bar, a council flat, and the streets of London, the play navigates through Jay’s tumultuous relationship with his partner and his struggle with the memories of his past. The narrative unfolds through a series of raw and emotional scenes that reveal the depth of Jay’s internal conflict and the impact of his past experiences on his present life.

The play explores themes of love, loss, and identity. It is a drama with elements of social realism and dark comedy, structured in a non-linear narrative that captures the fragmented and often chaotic nature of Jay’s life. The settings are minimalist, with key props and lighting used to transition between different locations and moments in time, emphasizing the emotional weight of the story.
