Synopsis

Between Punjab and London

Blood is about the post-partition migration of Balbir and Manmohan, two Sikh-Punjabi brothers, from post-partition Punjab to London. The play splices the migrations of 1947 with the lives of Balbir and Manmohan as they adjust to a new life in England.

The trauma of the partition of India and Pakistan, the cycles of intergenerational violence this yielded, the meaning of family, the nihilism that brutality breeds, masculinity and its relationship to violence, the Sikh separatist/Khalistan movement and the differing impacts of remembering and forgetting both personal and national histories.
