Synopsis

A sultry summer evening in Camden Town, London. The neon lights of Bar Phoenix flicker to life as the sun sets

Yvonne, Simone, Barney, Raymond, and Gil converge at Bar Phoenix, each carrying their own desires and secrets. Recently released from prison, Raymond grapples with maintaining his tough reputation while navigating newfound freedom. Simone, a single mother, cautiously steps back into the world of dating and desire. As the night unfolds, their paths intertwine in a heady mix of attraction, longing, and the search for connection.

Been So Long is a vibrant exploration of urban life and the human need for intimacy. Walker’s poetic dialogue crackles with wit and sensuality, capturing the pulse of Camden’s nightlife. The play explores sexual desire, loneliness, and the complexities of modern relationships. Through its diverse cast of characters, Been So Long offers a nuanced portrayal of working-class London, touching on issues of race, gender, and the challenges of finding genuine connection in a world of fleeting encounters.
