Synopsis

A dingy flat in working-class England, 1980s. Three women’s lives intersect in a claustrophobic space, their shared history hanging heavy in the air.

Mona, a fiercely independent yet emotionally scarred woman, finds herself at the centre of a tumultuous triangle involving her long-time friend Michele and the enigmatic Susan. As the play unfolds, Mona’s confrontations with both women peel back layers of betrayal, love, and friendship, revealing the deep-seated complexities of their intertwined lives.

Jacqueline Rudet’s Basin is a raw, uncompromising exploration of female relationships and the lasting impact of past experiences. Through sharp, honest dialogue and emotionally charged encounters, that explotr self-worth, identity, and the search for meaningful connections in a world rife with superficiality. The play’s claustrophobic setting mirrors the characters’ internal struggles, creating a pressure-cooker atmosphere where truths are laid bare and loyalties are tested. As Mona grapples with her own vulnerabilities and the betrayals she’s endured, Basin offers a poignant reflection on the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring quest for understanding in the face of life’s challenges.
