Synopsis

A humanitarian compound in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where idealism collides with harsh realities

Sadhbh, an Irish human rights investigator, works tirelessly to document war crimes in the conflict-ridden Democratic Republic of Congo. As she pursues dangerous individuals like Colonel Jerome Mburame, Sadhbh grapples with the emotional toll of her work and its impact on her relationships. When a brutal attack on their compound leaves her and her colleague Mathilde traumatised, Sadhbh must confront the personal cost of her professional commitment. Her relationship with her boyfriend Stephen is strained as she struggles to reconcile her dedication to her work with her personal life.

Through its exploration of human rights, psychological trauma, and the blurred lines between personal and professional lives, Bang Bang Bang offers a nuanced and deeply affecting look at the complexities of humanitarian work. The play challenges audiences to consider the human cost of bearing witness to atrocities and the moral ambiguities that arise in the pursuit of justice.
