Synopsis

Bad Roads is a powerful and thought-provoking play that explores the complexities of human relationships in the context of war. Through six interconnected vignettes, the play delves into the lives of various characters, including soldiers, civilians, and journalists, as they navigate the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The play’s non-linear structure and episodic nature allow for a deep exploration of the characters’ experiences, motivations, and the moral dilemmas they face. Each vignette is a self-contained story that contributes to the overall themes of the play, such as the blurred lines between love and violence, the psychological toll of war, and the struggle for power and control in a world turned upside down.
Vorozhbit’s writing is raw, unflinching, and often darkly comedic, forcing the audience to confront the harsh realities of war and its impact on the human psyche. The play’s in-yer-face style and frank depictions of violence and abuse may be challenging for some viewers, but they serve to underscore the brutal truth of the characters’ experiences.
