Synopsis

Amy as she navigates the choppy waters of family dynamics with the determination only an 11-year-old can muster. When a chance discovery on Twitter reveals the existence of her half-sister Lily, Amy’s world expands in ways her mother never anticipated. With the tenacity of a detective and the curiosity of a child, Amy embarks on a quest to unravel the mystery of her extended family.

The play crafts a delicate balance between the serious undertones of family separation and the irrepressible optimism of youth. Through a series of snappy, episodic scenes, we bounce from Amy’s cosy bedroom to the windswept streets of Padstow, each location shift bringing us closer to the heart of Amy’s journey. The play’s accessible dialogue and straightforward narrative structure make it a perfect introduction to theatre for young audiences, while its exploration of complex family dynamics offers plenty for adults to ponder. Baby Sister is a testament to the enduring power of sibling bonds, even those forged across miles and years of separation.
