Synopsis

In the war-torn city of Thebes

Antigone is determined to honour her brother Polynices despite the edicts of her uncle, Creon. The new ruler’s decree that Polynices remain unburied fuels Antigone’s fierce resolve to challenge his authority, sparking a tragic clash. Her unwavering commitment to family and divine law pits her against Creon’s rigid adherence to state laws, highlighting her solitary crusade for justice.

Logue’s adaptation, with its intense poetic dialogue and minimalist setting, vividly portrays the themes of justice, loyalty, and individual struggle against oppressive power. The starkness of the staging underscores the raw emotional landscape, focusing on Antigone’s brave yet doomed rebellion. Through her journey, the play dissects the catastrophic consequences of inflexible authority and moral absolutism, offering a poignant reflection on the cost of integrity.
