Synopsis
A working-class Glasgow living room, where family tensions simmer beneath a veneer of normalcy.
Two brothers, one a returning soldier and the other a union shop steward, find themselves at odds as long-buried family conflicts resurface. As their contrasting life experiences collide, the entire family is forced to confront uncomfortable truths about loyalty, identity, and their place in a changing society.
Billy Connolly’s An’ Me Wi’ a Bad Leg Tae is a sharply observed exploration of working-class family dynamics in 1970s Scotland. With his signature blend of biting humour and poignant social commentary, Connolly dissects the complexities of sibling rivalry, generational divides, and the impact of societal expectations on individual choices. The play’s structure mimics the ebb and flow of family gatherings, with moments of raucous laughter giving way to tense confrontations. Through the brothers’ conflicting worldviews, Connolly offers a nuanced examination of class identity and the personal cost of social mobility, challenging audiences to reflect on their own familial and societal roles.
