Synopsis

A dimly lit stage, a single performer stands alone, ready to unleash a torrent of words and memories

In all of it, Alistair McDowall presents a breathtaking journey through one woman’s life, from childhood to old age. Our unnamed protagonist navigates the complexities of growing up, sexuality, family relationships, and the inexorable march of time. As she grapples with life’s pivotal moments—first kisses, university life, marriage, motherhood, and loss—we witness the ebb and flow of her experiences, fears, and desires.

McDowall’s innovative stream-of-consciousness style creates a visceral, intimate portrait of a life lived. The play’s rapid-fire delivery and poetic repetitions mirror the chaotic nature of memory and thought, drawing the audience into the protagonist’s inner world. Themes of mortality, identity, sexual awakening, and familial bonds are woven throughout, creating a tapestry of human experience that is at once deeply personal and universally relatable.
