Synopsis

A pavement, in the late evening

Set in Bombay’s red-light district, A Touch of Brightness centres around Rukhmani, a sex worker with a mystical aura. Rukhmani’s journey, marked by her spiritual awakening amidst a harsh reality, intertwines with key figures like Pidku and Shri, revealing the struggles and societal disdain faced by those in her world.

The play delves into themes of spirituality, societal neglect, and the quest for dignity, portraying the raw experiences of marginalized individuals. Its style blends realism with symbolism, using Rukhmani’s spiritual reflections as a metaphor for her inner journey. This poignant tale leaves a lasting impression, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
