2015

Testament, born Andy Brooks, is a British writer, rapper, educator, and beatboxer born in North London and brought up in Manchester. He began his career as a hip-hop artist and gradually expanded into spoken word poetry, playwrighting, and music composition. His first play Blake Remixed received critical acclaim.

He has written for The Royal Court and Leeds Playhouse, The Globe, and Manchester Royal Exchange, and his work extends to television and radio. He co-wrote Netflix’s Castlevania Nocturne, co-wrote raps and spoken word pieces for the 2023 Disney Plus TV series The Full Monty, and in 2021, he received a Special Commendation at the 2023 BBC Audio Drama Awards for his radio play Daughter.

Testament runs workshops through his company, Hip-Hop Clinic, aiming to inspire and educate young people through the arts.
