Stewart Pringle is a British playwright and dramaturg known for his contributions to contemporary theatre. His play Trestle (2017) premiered at Southwark Playhouse and won the Papatango New Writing Prize, earning recognition for its exploration of love and ageing. In 2024, Pringle’s play The Bounds was co-produced by Live Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre. Additionally, Pringle has worked for many years as a culture journalist. Outside of theatre, Pringle has also written extensively for Doctor Who.
Pringle has held prominent positions in theatre, including Senior Dramaturg at the National Theatre and Associate Dramaturg at the Bush Theatre. In 2024, he was appointed Writer-in-Residence at the Royal Shakespeare Company. His writing often blends humour with poignancy, focusing on themes of human connection and societal dynamics.
