Robert Alan Evans is a playwright, director, and screenwriter born in Oxford, England, and brought up in Penarth, South Wales. He describes his inspiration for becoming a writer as having began after writing his first story at age 7, realising then that writing allowed him to escape into limitless possibilities.
His first play A Girl in a Car with a Man was produced by the Royal Court in 2004. He wrote the play in Australia while taking part in World Interplay, a worldwide conference for young playwrights.
Other works by Evans include Lightning Ridge, an adaptation of Ben Rice’s Poppy and Dingan, Death Drop: Back in the Habit at the Garrick Theatre, and When I Lie to You Do You Love Me More? staged in France at Theatre du Prisme. He also frequently writes Christmas shows aimed at young people, such as Fairy Poppins and the Naughty Winter Ghost.
He was nominated for the Brian Way Award and he is the winner of the 2010 TMA Award for Best show for Children and Young people.
