The play addresses the complexities of race relations in modern Britain, centring on a South London community affected by racial tensions and violence. Her ability to capture the nuances of urban life and societal divides has earned her widespread recognition.
Her second play, Routes (2013), also staged at the Royal Court Theatre, delves into the lives of immigrants and asylum seekers, exploring themes of belonging, borders, and the harsh realities of migration.
