Nathaniel Martello-White is a British actor, playwright, and director whose work often explores race, identity, and trauma. Born in London, he studied at RADA before turning to writing and directing. His debut play Blackta (2012), staged at the Young Vic, satirises the experiences of Black actors in the entertainment industry. Martello-White’s work draws from his personal experiences growing up in a multicultural London and often focuses on the psychological aspects of race and identity. His writing at the Royal Court Theatre, including Torn (2016), examines fractured family dynamics and social tension with a raw, immersive style.
