Michael John Abbensetts was a Guyana-born British writer. Inspired by George Osborne’s Look Back in Anger, his first play Sweet Talk premiered at the Royal Court in 1973 where he subsequently became resident dramatist. He is best known for writing the BBC series Empire Road which premiered in 1978. He was the first Black British playwright commissioned to write a television drama series.
