Mark Ravenhill is a British playwright and actor, best known for his exploration of contemporary social issues through dark humor and provocative themes. Ravenhill rose to prominence with his play Shopping and F**ing* (1996), which tackled consumerism, addiction, and disconnection in modern society. A leading figure in the in-yer-face theatre movement of the 1990s, Ravenhill’s work often deals with the underbelly of urban life, exposing the impact of capitalism and social alienation. His other notable works include Some Explicit Polaroids (1999) and Mother Clap’s Molly House (2001), both of which were staged at the Royal Court Theatre. Ravenhill has also written for radio, television, and opera.
