Margaret Perry is an Irish playwright from Cork, currently based in London. She holds a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies from University College Cork and an MA in Dramatic Writing from Central Saint Martins. Her debut play, Porcelain (2018), was produced by the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and later adapted for BBC Radio 4, where it was shortlisted for Best Audio Drama at the Prix Marulic 2019. Her second play, Collapsible (2019), won an Origin Award for Outstanding New Work at the VAULT Festival and the Fishamble New Writing Award at Dublin Fringe, subsequently transferring to the Bush Theatre in London. In 2022, Perry’s play Paradise Now! premiered at the Bush Theatre and was nominated for an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. Perry has participated in the Royal Court Young Writers Programme and the Royal Court Supergroup, and has been commissioned by the Royal Court Theatre and The Yard Theatre. Her writing often explores themes of identity and mental health, characterised by sharp dialogue and a blend of humour and poignancy.
