Firdos Ali

Firdos Ali is a Somali British playwright who writes about the Black, British, Muslim experience. Her works include Struggle, Stripped Black and How I Feel.

Firdos’s short story Emerald Waters was chosen for the Bare Lit Festival in 2016. Her musical New Life, for which she wrote the book and lyrics, was showcased at BEAM in 2018. Firdos was named on the BBC New Talent Hotlist.

In 2023, Ali co-wrote The Ship’s Name, the first collaborative venture of members of the Somali writers group for the Royal Court’s Unheard Voices Programme.
