Enda Walsh is an Irish playwright and screenwriter known for his surreal, darkly comedic, and emotionally intense works. He gained international recognition with his play Disco Pigs (1996), a raw and visceral portrayal of two teenagers growing up in Cork, Ireland. Walsh’s work often explores themes of isolation, identity, and the human psyche, using fragmented narratives and lyrical language.
His plays, such as The Walworth Farce (2006) and Misterman (2011), have been staged at the Royal Court Theatre and beyond, showcasing his unique blend of the absurd and the deeply emotional. Walsh has also written for film, including Hunger (2008), and continues to be a significant voice in contemporary theatre.
Walsh spoke to Simon Stephens in S1 Ep1 of Playwright’s Podcast.
