Oladipo ‘Dipo’ Agboluaje is a British-Nigerian playwright known for his works exploring cultural and social themes. He was born in Hackney, London. He studied theatre arts at the University of Benin in Nigeria and later completed a doctoral thesis on West and South African drama at the Open University. Oladipo’s first play, Early Morning, was produced in 2003 at Oval House Theatre in South London. Following this, he wrote several original plays, adaptations, and radio plays. His first collection of plays, Plays One, was published by Oberon in 2014. 

Agboluaje’s writing explores themes of identity, belonging, and the African Diasporic condition. In 2009, he won the Alfred Fagon Award for playwriting for his play Iya-Ile (The First Wife), which was also nominated for an Olivier Award that year. Additionally, Oladipo has published poems and short stories. He has written for young audiences, creating plays set in alternate worlds influenced by fiction, fantasy novels, and comic books. He reviews essay submissions for the African Performance Review journal and has taught creative writing and post-colonial theatre at various universities.
