Daniel Mornin was a Northern Irish playwright, screenwriter, and novelist whose works vividly depicted contemporary Ulster. Mornin left school at 15 and held various jobs before joining the Royal Navy. After his service, Mornin travelled extensively through Europe, Nepal, and North Africa. He later pursued English and economics A-levels and engaged in theatre workshops.
Mornin’s debut play, Mum and Son (1981), was produced at London’s Riverside Studios. His notable works include The Murderers (1985), directed by Peter Gill at the National Theatre, and Comrade Ogilvy (1984), staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company. His novel All Our Fault (1991) was later adapted into the film Nothing Personal (1995), featuring Ian Hart, John Lynch, and Michael Gambon. His works often follow themes of conflict and societal challenges in Northern Ireland.
