Clare McIntyre was a British playwright and actor, recognised as a significant voice in the feminist theatre movement of the late 20th century. She began her career as an actress in the 1970s, making her mark on the British feminist theatre scene before transitioning to playwriting in the 1980s. Her debut as a writer reflected her commitment to feminist issues, which became a defining feature of her work.

McIntyre’s acclaimed plays, Low Level Panic (1988) and My Heart’s a Suitcase (1990), both premiered at the Royal Court and explored the complexities of women’s lives in a humorous style. My Heart’s a Suitcase earned her the Evening Standard and London Drama Critics awards for Most Promising Playwright.
