Brendan Behan was an Irish poet, short story writer, novelist, and playwright. Born in Dublin, he was a member of the Irish Republican Army and spent time in prison, experiences that influenced his writing. Behan’s notable works include the plays The Quare Fellow and The Hostage, and the autobiographical novel Borstal Boy. Known for his sharp wit and boisterous personality.
