Bola Agbaje is a British-Nigerian playwright whose work often addresses themes of identity, community, and the experiences of African diaspora in the UK. Agbaje gained critical acclaim with her debut play Gone Too Far! (2007), staged at the Royal Court Theatre, which explores cultural identity and the complexities of sibling relationships against the backdrop of South London. In 2008, the play won the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliated Theatre. The play was revived in 2008 and returned for a run in the main Downstairs space at the Court, as well as at the Hackney Empire and Albany Theatre.

In 2018, Agbaje was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature (RSL). Her writing is known for its wit, accessibility, and social relevance, often highlighting the struggles and aspirations of young, marginalised communities.

Agbaje spoke to Simon Stephens in S2 Ep3 of Playwright’s Podcast.
