Anupama Chandrasekhar is an Indian playwright known for her compelling portrayals of contemporary Indian society. Born in Chennai, Chandrasekhar developed her interest in storytelling early and began writing plays after studying at the University of Madras. Her breakthrough came with Free Outgoing (2007), a play about the impact of modern technology on traditional values, staged at the Royal Court Theatre. Chandrasekhar’s writing often addresses themes of gender, class, and social justice, and her works have been performed internationally. She has received acclaim for her ability to craft deeply personal narratives that resonate globally.
