Anna Wakulik is a Polish playwright and dramaturg, born in Gdańsk. She studied at the Playwriting School of Teatr na Woli in Warsaw and the Institute of Polish Culture at the University of Warsaw. Wakulik has held significant positions in Polish theatre, including Literary Manager at Teatr im. L. Solskiego in Tarnów (2012–2014) and dramaturg at Teatr Dramatyczny in Warsaw (2017–2020). Since 2022, she has been a dramaturg at Teatr Wybrzeże in Gdańsk.
Her notable play, Zażynki (A Time to Reap), has been performed at Teatr Polski in Poznań and the Royal Court Theatre. The play was nominated for a London Evening Standard Theatre Award in 2013 and received the Journalist’s Prize in Teatr Polski Poznań’s playwriting contest Metafory Rzeczywistości. Wakulik’s works have been translated into multiple languages, including English, German, French, Catalan, Romanian, Italian, and Hungarian.
Throughout her career, Wakulik has been recognised with several awards and honours. She has been a finalist for the Gdynia Drama Award four times: in 2010 for Krzywy domek, in 2014 for Wasza wysokość, in 2015 for Dziki Zachód, and in 2017 for Błąd wewnętrzny. In 2023, she received the Stanisław Barańczak Scholarship as part of the Poznań Literary Award.
