Ann Jellicoe (1927–2017) was a British playwright, director, and actress, celebrated for her contributions to modern theatre. Born in Middlesbrough, she trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Jellicoe gained prominence with her play The Knack (1961), which was adapted into a film in 1965. She was a pioneer of community theatre, founding the Colway Theatre Trust in 1978, which focused on creating plays with and for local communities.
