Andrea Dunbar was a British playwright from Bradford, England, renowned for her unflinching portrayals of working-class life. Her first play, The Arbor (1980), written at the age of 18, was performed at the Royal Court Theatre and earned critical acclaim for its raw depiction of teenage pregnancy. Dunbar’s subsequent play, Rita, Sue and Bob Too (1982), also staged at the Royal Court, was later adapted into a film. Her writing is known for its authenticity and vivid depiction of social issues.
