Amy Bethan Evans is a playwright, dramaturg, and disability activist originally from Bristol with Welsh heritage. She identifies as visually impaired and Neurodivergent (dyspraxic) and fights for better access and validation of the disabled lived experience. She uses techniques that enhance accessibility for people with disabilities within the arts and cultural sector and has written creative audio description. She was commissioned by the Royal Court and has held attachment to the National Theatre Studio. Her plays include Libby’s Eyes (Bunker) and Tinted (Vaults), and the Royal Court’s Living Archive: Imagine. She is also a member of Soho Writers’ Alumni Group and an alumnus of Graeae’s Write to Play,  BBC Writers’ Access Group and Paines Plough’s Re: Assemble programme.

Evans reflects on disability activism with a poignant observation. In her own words: “I feel like disability activism is often treated like an intersection to other activism, rather than the lens we apply first. I’m interested to see what happens when we do that and also how to make checking other kinds of privilege accessible”.
