Alexander Buzo was an Australian playwright and author known for his contributions to Australian literature and drama. His writing career spanned several decades, during which he produced numerous plays, including Norm and Ahmed and The Front Room Boys, which explored themes of cultural identity and social issues. Buzo’s writing style has been compared to that of his contemporary Australian playwright David Williamson, as well as British playwright Harold Pinter, for their use of surrealism, triviality, and colloquial expressions. Buzo’s authorship extended to fiction and non-fiction.
Buzo was awarded an honorary doctorate in letters from the University of New South Wales in 2001, in recognition of his contributions to Australian literature and drama.
