Aleshea Harris, an American playwright, spoken word artist, author, educator, actor, performer, and screenwriter, gained acclaim with her play Is God Is, winning the American Playwriting Foundation’s Relentless Award in 2016. Her work On Sugarland was recognized as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2023. Harris, who describes herself as an army child, has lived in many places, primarily in the Southern United States.
