Alan Drury was a British writer, theatre critic, and director who contributed to radio, theatre, and television. His first successful work, a monologue titled The Man Himself, toured the UK and continental Europe in 1975.
In the late 70s, Alan became resident writer at the Royal Court theatre. His play An Empty Desk was performed in the upstairs theatre in 1979. He later worked as a script editor in BBC TV drama and as literary manager at Hampstead theatre and BBC Radio drama.
