Stage Debut
1998
Abi Morgan began her trade in the theatre but has also reached international acclaim for her startling television and film work. Over the course of the past two decades she has made plays of formal confidence, emotional incision and darting theatricality. She made her Royal Court debut with her study of sexual mores, The Mistress Contract, in 2014.
She launched her stage career with Skinned at Nuffield Theatre, Southampton in 1998. Subsequently, she presented Fast Food at the Manchester Royal Exchange studio in 1999, followed by Splendour for Paines Plough in 2000, which was later revived at the Donmar Warehouse in 2015. Her collaboration with Frantic Assembly began with Tiny Dynamite in 2001, marking the beginning of a significant partnership that has influenced both her career and the company. In the same year, her work Tender at the Hampstead Theatre garnered her a nomination for Most Promising Playwright.
Morgan spoke to Simon Stephens in S2 Ep5 of Playwright’s Podcast.
